Fake Coins

By Patric Nyström & Per Demervall

In the fifth album, Siri and Zack travel to the great market of York, or Jorvik as the Vikings call the city. Merchants from all over the world gather here to buy and sell their wares with jingling coins. Siri’s father, Chief Torkel has also travelled there to sell his wares but discovers that the Vikings are not favoured in the city. Things don’t get any better when someone fools everyone at the market with fake coins. Chief Torkel gets into trouble and the king blames him. But who is selling faulty things that break immediately and what are Ivar and Grym up to?

Fake Coins is the fifth part in the series of Siri the Viking. This brilliant comic series aimed at middle-grade readers mixes imaginative adventure with historical settings and facts about the Viking age.

The comic format encourages reluctant readers to grab the pages, and fans of Asterix will get to experience the Viking stories through the eyes of a young resourceful girl. Many aspects of Viking life are portrayed in a historically accurate way, and a lot of information is highlighted in special fact boxes.
