Rafsa Rootless

By Lena Frölander-Ulf

In Stonefield, the vipers rule and force the marmots to obey. Rafsa, Kotten and their viper friend Ziczac have escaped from the terrible Lieutenant Gaddh and now live alone deep in the forest. They must find Rafsa’s missing father, for he is the biggest and toughest marmot in the world, and the only one who can help them save the marmot colony. But where is he? Why has he not been seen in Stonefield for years? And what is that ghastly cry echoing through the forest?

Rafsa Rootless is a multi-layered adventure novel about building friendships with those who are different, about betrayal and abuse, and the grief of a parent who is not what you want.

The Rafsa Trilogy – the Fight for the Stonefield about the rebellious, impulsive and brave marmot girl Rafsa and her two unruly companions is exciting and fun to read alone or to read aloud, with short chapters, illustrated in colour throughout. The adorable yet menacing illustrations are a trademark of Lena-Frölander-Ulf, known for her dark tones yet warm characters in artwork.
