Rocks!

By Salla Savolainen

Where there’s a will there’s a way! Mastermind Salla Savolainen continues her hugely popular construction book series packed with big machinery, amazing gadgets, detailed information and action.

The Blast Hole Drillers have filled the holes drilled by the drill rigs, and the rock is ready to be blasted. “Paw in front of the other and quickly take cover!” Koistinen urges Piki the dog. Next, Koistinen’s loader is full of large lumps of stone, ready to be transported to the stone crusher. There, the jaws of a gigantic crusher grind the stones into gravel and rubble in an instant.

Rock is the fourth instalment of Savolainen’s popular narrative non-fiction series about what goes on in construction sites. It follows Asphalt!, Concrete! and Junk! – the first introduced readers to the process of building roads, the second showcased how concrete is produced and the third explored the fascinating world of metal recycling. Detailed machinery and truck pictures with humorous text are the perfect combination for small and bigger construction enthusiasts!
