Hans Arnold

Hans Arnold (1925-2010) was a Swiss-Swedish artist and illustrator. He grew up in a very strict and conservative Catholic area in Sursee, Switzerland.

Having finished art school in Luzern and traveling Europe, Arnold finally settled in Stockholm, Sweden. Working as an illustrator for magazines, papers and children’s books for several years, he got his big breakthrough as the ”Master of horror” while illustrating short stories known as ”Veckans chock”  in the women’s magazine Veckorevyn 1954-1979.

Alongside children’s’ book illustrations he is well known for ABBA’s iconic Greatest hits cover and he also made a name a name for himself in animation, TV vignettes, opera, theatre and TV scenography.  In total there are over 2000 illustrations made by Hans Arnold.
