Memento Mori nominated for 2024 Ringo Awards
We are thrilled to share that Tiitu Takalo is among the nominees for the 2024 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Awards.
The annual Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards aka Ringo Awards is a celebration of the creativity, skill, and fun of comics. This year the Baltimore Comic-Con, America’s Greatest Comic Book Convention, will host the Seventh Annual Ringo Awards. Winners will be chosen from over 20 categories. Takalo’s autobiographical graphic novel Memento Mori is among the six works nominated in the Best Non-Fiction Comic category.
Memento Mori translated into English by Maria Schroderus and published by Oni Press is an autobiographical graphic novel about life, art, the search for happiness, and surviving a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 38. The original Finnish edition is published by WSOY. Takalo’s graphic novel is a deeply moving reflection on the physical and mental journey to recovery after surviving a cerebral hemorrhage and how the traumatic event changed the creator’s outlook on life for the better.
The winners will be revealed at the Ringo Awards ceremony which will take place during the 2024 Baltimore Comic-Con on September 21.
Our warmest congratulations to Tiitu Takalo!
