Moominvalley's great success in Germany

Gutsy Animations’ Emmy® nominated animated series ‘Moominvalley’ launched on ZDF KiKa in Germany late last year and has gone on to receive a hugely positive response in the region.

 

Across the first run of seasons one and two on the channel between November 2020 – January 2021, the series – locally titled ‘Mumintal’ – has celebrated outstanding ratings, with key performance highlights during this window including:

  • Across the two seasons, Moominvalley performed 83% above the channel’s average among kids aged 3 – 13-years-old, with girls ranking at 87% and boys at 76% above the average share

  • The series also performed 135% above the channel’s average share for adults aged 14 – 49-years-old, with women 144% above average share and men 119% above average share

  • The series generated its highest reach on 27 November 2020 of 320,000 children and a local kids’ market share of an impressive 43.2%

  • In Germany, the figures highlight Moominvalley is loved by boys and girls alike, with an audience ratio split of 60%:40%

  • In its time slot (Monday-Sunday: 18:15-18:40h), KiKa had an average reach of 149,000 among kids aged 3-13 years (Jan-Nov 2020) but Moominvalley ranked 22% higher, with an average reach of 182,000 across the series
