People Tree has launched a new, beautiful collection in collaboration with Moomin. The collection combines Moomin prints with sustainable fabrics, making the clothes both stylish and environmentally-friendly.
People Tree’s first Moomin-themed collection was launched last spring to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood (1945). The collection gets continuation now, as the spring/summer 2021 pieces have been launched.
The collection consists of graphic tees, a printed sweater, jersey dresses, a pyjama set and socks, featuring different illustrations of Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden. The pieces were designed to share some of the Moomins’ most important values: friendship, respect for nature and love.
The dresses have a gorgeous pattern with Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden, and the tees and sweatshirts present the characters in different situations.
People Tree, a pioneer in sustainable fashion, was founded in 1991 to create fashion made with the highest environmental and ethical standards. This means that some of the most important Moomin values, such as respect for nature and love are also at the core of People Tree.
The fun new collection uses GOTS and Fairtrade certified Organic Cotton. This ensures transparency and traceability of the supply chain by making sure the whole process is organic certified, from harvesting of the raw materials, through to the environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling.
The pieces in the new collection are made by three different manufacturers. The all-over-print pieces are made by Rajlakshmi Cotton Mills, based Delhi, India. The organisation was set up in 1934, and they are a pioneer in organic garment manufacturing in India. The graphic tees are made by Assisi, an organization founded on providing training and employment for deaf, mute and economically disadvantaged women. The socks in the collection are made by Bulus, a family run company producing high quality, fashionable socks in Turkey.
