Publishing Weekly Wrap-Up March 8th – 12th

12 Mar 2021

We’re introducing our agency’s Publishing Weekly Wrap-Up to share the latest activities, news, deals and much more from the past week. The first couple of weeks of March have been busy for us. Here are the latest highlights.

We’re kicking off this week’s highlights with this dazzling cover of the English edition of Linda Bondestam’s picture book Good Night, World (God natt på jordan) that will be published in April 2021 by Restless Books.

Other new editions include Verlag Uracchaus’s German edition of Pirkko-Liisa Surojegin’s Finnish Animal Fables (Suomen lasten eläinsadu) with an enchanting cover. The German publisher also published the 2nd print run of the German edition of Nora & Pirkko-Liisa Surojegin’s book Untu and the Secret of the Heart of Winter.

Exciting news from the sub-agent sector. We are thrilled to announce that we’ve just signed on a new sub-agent from the sunny US western coast, Tapir Literary Agency in San Francisco. We are also delighted to inform that Korean sub-agent Shinwon Agency will take on Ilon Wikland.

This spring will bring along many new wonderful titles, some of them recently added to our website. The latest highlights include Lena Frölander-Ulf’s magically realistic picture book Me, Fidel and the Big City, a comforting story about overcoming fear and finding your own place in the big overwhelming world.

The popular Robbersons series by Siri Kolu continues with The Robbersons and the Friend Snatcher where a wrongdoer threatens the entire world of robbers. Many more new gems will be informed during this spring.

And to round the week off, here are the latest foreign rights deals:

Hungarian and Romanian rights to Tatu and Patu Go to Work (Tatu ja Patu työn touhussa) and Tatu and Patu’s Mad Machines (Tatun ja Patun oudot kojeet) by Aino Havukainen and Sami Toivonen have gone to Cerkabella.

Icelandic rights to The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My (Hur gick det sen?) by Tove Jansson and Finn Family Moomintroll (Trollkarlens hatt?) have gone to Forlagid.

English rights (excl. British Commonwealth) to Sun City (Solstaden) by Tove Jansson have gone to The New York Review of Books.
