Publishing Weekly Wrap-Up May 3rd – 7th

06 May 2021

What a great week it has been at the agency. The first week of May has been packed with a charming new title, some nice media coverage and a bunch of deals. It’s time for our Publishing Weekly Wrap-Up that shares the latest activities, news, deals and much more from the past week. Here are the latest highlights.

We’re kicking off this week’s highlights by introducing one of this spring highlights from our children’s list. Ever dreamt about having your own pony? The newcomer title, Tully and Roly the Pony is for every pony fan out there. A mesmerizing story about the friendship between a little girl and a pony, created by multi-talent and Finlandia Junior-nominee Ninka Reittu.

Tully and Roly the Pony is a charming start to Ninka Reittu’s new picture book series. A heart-warming story about friendship, understanding and accepting one for who they are despite the differences. The thoughtful narration is combined with vivid and bubbly illustrations that take you to the cosy countryside landscape. The book is set to be published in Finnish within a couple of weeks and an English sample translation will also be available soon.

There has been some wonderful media coverage this week for some of our authors.

Finnish Literature Exchange launched a new “FILI’s top picks” video series earlier this spring. Each video clip presents four topical Finnish books, hosted by translator David Hackston. This week Linda Bondestam’s celebrated picture book My Life at the Bottom ( Mitt bottenliv) was featured among three other recent Finnish books for children & young adults. Check out the video on FILI’s YouTube channel, here.

Legendary Tove Jansson and her classic novel The Summer Book (Sommarboken) was also featured in the recently published film festival magazine L’Etoile du Nord. The Nordic-themed magazine highlights favourite authors and offers inspiration for summertime activities in the Nordics.
