Sam Wilde x Svenskt Tenn: A Holiday Collaboration for 2025
Returning to Svenskt Tenn for the 2025 festive season, Sam Wilde has created Poison of Eden, a series of seven handcrafted brass and glass Christmas ornaments inspired by poisonous plants.
A Century of Design Excellence
The legendary interior design company Svenskt Tenn was established in 1924 by the visionary entrepreneur Estrid Ericson. About a decade later, Ericson recruited Austrian architect and designer Josef Frank.
Throughout his career, Frank produced over 3,000 drawings and sketches, as well as more than 250 prints, which are preserved in Svenskt Tenn’s archives today.
Today, over eighty per cent of Svenskt Tenn’s range consists of original designs, complemented by furniture and accessories created by some of the most skilled designers and artisans of our time.
This latest collaboration marks Sam Wilde’s fourth product release for the brand since his debut partnership in 2018.
Crafted in Contrast: The Poison of Eden Collection
Poison of Eden studies the visual character of plants whose histories hold both symbolism and caution. Familiar silhouettes are distilled into brass lines and enriched with glass accents, echoing the balance between restraint and ornament that defines Svenskt Tenn’s legendary design philosophy.
Presented individually or as a curated set, this collection introduces a distinct design narrative to the season. Their presence encourages a more investigative viewing of festive décor, where material, craft and story meet.
Each ornament is considered through a design lens that balances contrast, light with shadow, and simplicity with intricate detail. Together, they offer a contemporary interpretation of Frank’s visual language, transforming motifs from his Poison textile into sculptural objects for the home.
Collaborating Since 2018
Sam Wilde’s collaboration with Svenskt Tenn began in 2018 with two conceptual textile artworks exhibited at the brand’s historic Strandvägen store. Inspired by Josef Frank’s Beast Rug and Monster Rug, Wilde’s fine art patterns explored imaginative landscapes where the natural world meets the modern.
This distinctive contribution to Svenskt Tenn’s design narrative introduced a more illustrative and story-led approach to textile pattern. Demonstrating how contemporary imagination could sit confidently within the brand’s heritage of craft and colour.
Fruits of Eden
In 2019, Wilde collaborated with Svenskt Tenn to create Fruits of Eden, a Christmas collection culminating in the colourful textile print Hubris Tree, eight glass baubles and a star topper inspired by Hawaiian flowers.
Debuting in November 2019 at Svenskt Tenn’s flagship store in Stockholm, the collection was met with widespread acclaim and became the largest Christmas release in the company’s 95-year history.
Flowers of Eden
Wilde’s second collection launched in 2020 — Flowers of Eden — as an elegant accompaniment to the record-breaking Fruits of Eden collection the year before.
Warm, sophisticated and elegant. The Flowers of Eden collection is dedicated to the legacy created by the iconic founder of Svenskt Tenn, Estrid Ericson. Drawing inspiration from her love for flower arranging, talent for crafting paper flowers and keen eye for collecting floral ornaments from flea markets.
The collection featured five hand-painted glass baubles and a brass daffodil candle ring, which remains popular with Svenskt Tenn’s patrons.
In homage to Josef Frank’s design philosophy of “bringing the outside in”, for the 2021 festive season, Wilde also designed a selection of handcrafted brass flower ornaments, continuing the Flowers of Eden collection.
