The Swedish Literature Society in Finland award Lena Frölander-Ulf for her outstanding efforts in literature
Lena Frölander-Ulf is rewarded by The Swedish Literature Society in Finland for her extraordinary efforts in literature. The prize announcement was made during The Swedish Literature Society’s yearly festivities the 5th of February 2022.
The prize of 20 000 euros from Irma Carell’s will fund goes to Lena Frölander-Ulf for her current children’s book Me, Fidel and the big City. Me, Fidel and the Big City (Fidel och jag i storstan) is an independent sequel to Me, Dad and the Sea (Pappa, jag och havet) and Me, Fidel and the Forest (Jag, Fidel och skogen).
The motivation from the jury reads as follows:
The book concludes a trilogy of books whose themes and illustration techniques are seamlessly combined. In the books, the child self meets and defeats the fear of the darkness, of the forest, the dark depths of the sea and the gloom of the city. Lena Frölander-Ulf skillfully creates shimmering magical worlds filled with unexpected encounters and warm wonder in this scraperboard picture book.

During the festivities Minna Lindeberg was also awarded a prize of 15 000 euros from Paul Werner Lybeck’s will fund. Minna Lindeberg has co-written The Admirable Mr Happy together with Linda Bondestam and Wilder, Worse, Smilodon together with Jenny Lucander, both books are represented by Rights & Brands.
