Makia was founded in 2001 in Helsinki and is today considered one of Europe’s most respected street fashion brands. By combining Bamse’s iconic and timeless imagery with a modern streetwear aesthetic, Makia has created a unisex collection with high recognition for Makia and Bamse fans alike.
The clothing collection consists of organic cotton jersey products, such as t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts and hats. In addition to Bamse himself, the graphic design is characterized by cartoon boxes recognizable from the Bamse comics, classic cartoon sound effects and of course – Bamse’s famous thunder honey.
– Our new collection represents a tribute to Bamse, a figure who has inspired several generations with his humanistic ideals and positive values, us at Makia included. We want to highlight Bamse as a strong role model not only for young people but also for adults, as well as pay tribute to his enduring influence on Scandinavian culture, says Totti Nyberg at Makia Clothing.
– We are very happy to be able to offer clothes for all adult Bamse enthusiasts for the first time. Together with Makia, we are breaking new ground and expanding the experience of one of Sweden’s most beloved characters, says Mattias Mickelsson, responsible for Bamse licensing collaborations at Story House Egmont.
The Bamse by Makia collection will be available via several online retailers, including Makia’s own online shop and Zalando.
