My Life at the Bottom nominated for the Elsa Beskow Plaque

06 Jul 2021

Congratulations to Linda Bondestam and MY LIFE AT THE BOTTOM, nominated for the Elsa Beskow Plaque.

Bondestam’s latest picture book is a touching and surprising take on climate change, told by the voice of a rare and tiny axolotl. MY LIFE AT THE BOTTOM is a moving story combined with beautifully detailed illustrations which takes readers on a joyous discovery of the wonders of the underworld. World English rights have been acquired by US publisher Restless Books.

The Elsa Beskow Plaque was established in 1958 by The Swedish Library Association and is awarded annually to an author and illustrator, who created the previous year’s best Swedish children’s picture book.

In total, nine authors and illustrators have been nominated for three plaque awards. The winners of each category will be announced after summer.

MY LIFE AT THE BOTTOM has also been nominated for the 2021 Nordic Council Children’s and Young People’s Literature Prize and the 2020 August Prize. It was also selected for the 2021 Biennial of Illustration Bratislava. Linda Bondestam was recently nominated for the prestigious ALMA Award.
