A new official Moomin Shop has opened in Tokyo, Japan. The new shop is located in Ginza, one of Tokyo’s best shopping districts.
The new Moomin Shop in Ginza opened on Friday, December 16, and features a wide assortment of over 1000 different Moomin products – from mugs and stationery to confectionary treats. The shop also carries a large selection of products that have been imported from Nordic brands and licensees, which is uncommon in the Japanese market.
The Moomin shop is located on the first floor of Ginza Inz 1 and is developed by a subsidiary company of Matsuya Co. The company plans to open 10 Moomin shops by the end of 2027, mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, to increase its revenue through channels outside of its department stores.
The shop sells exclusive products that are only available in the Moomin Shop Ginza, such as these colorful tote bags and special edition Moomin biscuits from Hokuriku Seika.
The Moomin Shop Ginza has Japan’s largest selection of imported Nordic Moomin products. The products come from licensees, such as Martinex, Muurla, Opto Design, Skultuna, and Moomin by Arabia.
The green color with black and white details used for the Moomin shop interior is a nod to Tove Jansson’s Moomin novels and original colors and goes well with the shop’s Scandinvian style.
Moomin Shop Ginza is located at the first floor at Ginza Inns 1, Ginza Nishi 3-1, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
