An anniversary exhibition presents Tove Jansson’s Moomins in an experiential and multifaceted way

The Moomin Original: 75th Anniversary Special Exhibition in Korea is a combination of mixed media featuring projection mapping media art, as well as nearly 250 pieces of Tove Jansson’s original artworks and sketches. The 1300m² exhibition space includes also a café and store to maximize the Moominous experience.

 

The first Moomin story, Moomins and the Great Flood by Tove Jansson was published 75 years ago in 1945 and last Friday opened The Moomin Original: 75th Anniversary Special Exhibition in Seoul, Korea to celebrate the anniversary year. Located in the hip and booming Seongsu area of Seoul, the exhibition takes visitors through the Moomin novels in chronological order with accompanying artworks and installations.

After experiencing the novels visitors are greeted by a panoramic media art display of Moominland Midwinter where the entire room is seamlessly wrapped by projection. The exhibition continues to Tove Jansson’s original artworks section where visitors can interactively compare Tove’s rough comic strip sketches with final copies. There are also a Moomin-themed café and an art shop where visitors may enjoy exclusive merchandise for the 75th anniversary.
