As a tribute to Stig Lindberg (1916–1982), the red wine Berså Terra Alta is now being launched at Systembolaget. The wine is launched by Contemporary Wines in close collaboration with Stig Lindberg’s son, Lars Dueholm-Lindberg. Berså Terra Alta is the first wine ever to highlight a historic Swedish designer.
Stig Lindberg is one of Sweden’s most celebrated designers. For four decades he worked at Gustavsbergs Porslinsfabrik as, among other things, artistic director, ceramicist, and designer. In 1961, the porcelain series Berså was designed, which would become a symbol of the Swedish public home.
– With Berså Terra Alta, Stig Lindberg’s classic design is combined with a personal and genuine quality wine. It gives a clear expression of the elegant Garnacha Peluda grape and the interesting Terra Alta wine region, says Charlotta Ankarcrona, Marketing Manager at Contemporary Wines. With Berså Terra Alta, we let Stig Lindberg’s timeless pattern live on in a completely new form.
The area D.O. Terra Alta is a relatively unknown wine region in northern Spain that has gained attention for its quality in recent years. Terra Alta means high country, and the vineyards are located at an altitude of over 350 meters, which gives a cooler climate and more elegant wines. The grapes for Berså Terra Alta are harvested by hand and aged in French oak barrels for 4 months.
The wine has a berry, slightly spicy taste with barrel character and notes of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and licorice. It goes perfectly with most meat dishes, tapas or as a companion wine with good friends in the gazebo.
