Little Ghost Laban
Little Ghost Laban is a classic character in Swedish children’s literature, appearing for the first time in 1965, so nearly 60 years ago! This is the very first book to introduce readers to the delightful little ghost, who lives with his mum and dad in the castle Gomorronsol.
Little Laban was born in the basement of the castle where his ghost family lives. When Laban has grown a bit older, he starts to accompany his very scary, yet kind, father up to the castle on dark autumn evenings. Daddy Ghost has high hopes for his son. He is looking forward to the day when Laban can take over the spooky business. “You will be a really scary ghost, won’t you Laban?” he says.
Unfortunately, it seems that little Laban doesn’t have the ghost instincts like his father… One of the chambermaids even discovers the little ghost of the castle. Things don’t always go the way parents want for their children, however, Laban turns out to be quite a kind little creature.
First published in 1965, the artwork and style of Little Ghost Laban were updated in 2015.
